Custom Belt and Wrist Bands

Here are a couple of bands and bracelets and a custom belt recently commissioned by a good friend in Dartmouth.
You can see his initials carved into the belt behind the buckle.
The belt is simple and clean with a carved groove detail, setting off the colour of the leather inside against the darker dye.

The bands are shown below.

Hand Made Belts

Here are an assortment of the belts that I have done.  Some have buckles stitched on, while others have snaps that allow for the ability to change between buckles.

This belt is my daily belt.  It was factory tanned; the same leather as the Tan Bag, though it has darkened some with use.

Below is a selection of a few of the other belts with some of the patterns that have been tooled or carved.
Each of these belts was hand dyed from vegetable tanned (natural) leather after being tooled or carved.

First Bag Project

About a year ago I embarked on a project that led me to the place we are in now.  I couldn’t buy the rugged leather bag that I wanted, so I decided to make one.  With only the simplest of hand tools, and some persistence, I was able to craft my bag. This is a brief overview of that process.
My tools and hardware (awl, needle/thread, rivets, hoops and clasps. Razor knife not shown).
022
Cutting the hide for the main body of the bag.

All the pieces cut and laid out: strap, sides, hangers, and main body.
005
Sides cut, hangers stitched on and loops riveted in.
014
Bag all stitched together (minus front closures for lid).

The finished product.  A little larger than expected.

The same bag a year later.
A clear wax finish rubbed into the leather did not change the colour. The patina comes as a result of use and exposure to the sun.
